SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY

Our friends, SY and Hannah posed for this painting.

They stopped by Indialantic for about a year in 2007/08 on their way from Puerto Rico to New Zealand. We had a ball surfing Tampa Ave. together.

They have been living and surfing the Pismo Beach area for the past 5 years. This is their front yard and this is Cocoa..one of the several Lamas they care for. It's a little oasis located in the hills just north of Pismo Beach.

Sy can surf as good as he can paint.

They live in this great little cabin on a hillside overlooking the animals they care for as well as the Pacific Ocean. It's a totally functioning (stereo cassette) 1970's pristine cabin surrounded by mountains up against the back of it while it looks out on the grazing area for Cocoa and Co. with the ocean beyond.

ISSUES

Your problems with downloading new photos aside....are you also struggling with the manner in which you intend to end my life? Why don't you turn the other way and think about it so I can stick a horn up your ass.

"PICKIN ON" with David West

Patty and I had dinner with David and Patty West..a ritual we manage to pull off about once a year. I've known David for more 40 years. A musician's musician David fine tuned his talent during the 1970's in and around the Santa Barbara area.

Since then David opened a recording studio and produced the "PICKIN ON" series of CD's. The several dozen in the series has been and still is a major success. It began with "PICKIN ON CROSBY, STILLS AND NASH then " PICKIN ON THE GREATFUL DEAD, PICKIN ON ERIC CLAPTON, PICKIN ON JOHN MEYER, PICKIN ON THE BYRDS and so forth. Taking their music and putting them to progressive bluegrass. David plays the majority of instruments in the later series as well as being their producer. In other words, the dude has talent to spare.

California always seems to be about 10 years ahead of the rest of the country. I know these windmills have provided power for at least the past 30 years.

CAYUCOS

The day before we landed in California it was triple overhead. The day after we get home,WED. next week, a 10 day swell event arrives ranging from 7 to 8 foot to 20 foot . Ventura reaches 3X O.H.and Central California sees 18 plus for a couple days.I'd have to extend for an additional 7 days to reap the full benefit of the coming swell. My credit card would melt in my wallet from over exposure.

No photo shopping applied. 100% all natural.

If you told me this photo and the one above were not shopped I'd  look at the blue sky and that alone would prompt me to comment: "yeah right"

HAIL TO THE GOD GOOGLE

......got out of Ventura. Now in Cayucos, Central CA.  Google is trying to rein supreme not allowing us into our TRAVELS WITH NUGGET AND RICO... forcing this new blog into existence (I’m on Patty's computer), can't access new photos  downloaded to mention a few negatives.
Cayucos is only a few miles north of Morro Bay headed toward Big Sur.

VENTURA

1959 Chevy EL CAMENO.My parents owned one. First truck I went surfing in and the car I drove when learning to drive. It was a long first lesson from Venice to Bishop, California.

C Street .. late afternoon from the Crown Plaza. Pretty darn flat.

7am with Santa Cruz Island in the background.

One of our favorite places on main Street. The Watermark. A converted old bank with multiple floors.

Nick and Sophie stopped by on their way home from up north.
Just south about 1/8 of a mile from Emma Wood (Emma Wood is just around that point in the upper right).
